My Favorite Fitness Center in the Beaufort, SC Area

Today I’m getting to know the owner of Stay Strong Fitness, Beaufort’s best fitness center.

I spent a lovely Saturday morning at what I consider to be one of the best fitness centers in the Beaufort  area,  speaking with Sam Hoster, the owner. My wife and I have been training with Sam and his crew for 2 years now, and we are converts to the healthy lifestyle that they promote.

Sam’s personal story is amazing.  In my interview with Sam, he describes how he suddenly found himself in need of his own personal transformation, and what steps he took before he started his fitness center located less than 10 minutes from Beaufort on Lady’s Island.    His “why” was life changing and became his motivation to create a different fitness and wellness model; first for himself, and now for all his members.

Sam emerged from humble beginnings in a garage in Northern Illinois. 

Driven by a passion for health and wellness, Sam left behind a career in law enforcement to pursue his true calling. In 2019, he brought his expertise and dedication to the Low Country, and in 2020, Stay Strong found its home on Lady’s Island.

Stay Strong is one of the best fitness centers in the Lowcountry – what makes it so special? 

I spoke with Sam at length about what he feels makes StayStrong such a great place to learn how to become strong and healthy.   In my interview with Sam, we discussed his philosophy regarding health and fitness and it’s easy to see why he has received awards and accolades as a top fitness center in the Beaufort, SC area.   Sam has two fitness center and training gym locations on Lady’s Island – each one catering to a different type of training and fitness program.   

At Stay Strong Fitness, I have found their commitment to personalized training is unmatched.  

In addition to their previous training and work experiences, the instructors undergo additional rigorous training personally led by Sam.   This results in every trainer being able to make each session tailored to my unique needs and goals, which builds confidence and inspires trust in the program to do the job.    I’ve seen everyone from teenagers to seniors working out at the facilities, and people are relaxed and having fun while getting healthy. 

Each person should understand the pride Sam and his trainers take to make sure that everyone feels welcome and sees results, with many members staying until they relocate from the area. At Stay Strong Fitness, I feel I’m not just a member—I’m part of a community dedicated to my success and well-being.

Great facilities and the trainer’s hard work at the fitness centers produce multiple awards.  

In 2023, Stay Strong Gym was recognized as both the Lowcountry’s Best Fitness Center and Best Weight Loss Center.    Sam publishes a weekly newsletter designed to demonstrate success, with before and after photos and stories from the members.   These results are pounds lost, reductions in body fat and increases in muscle mass.    As far as I’m concerned, Stay Strong Fitness is more than just a gym—it’s a catalyst for transformation.   

What sets Stay Strong apart is its unwavering commitment to its members’ well-being, both inside and out. With two state-of-the-art facilities spanning 5,000 and 3,000 square feet respectively, I find that they have equipment and training areas that are designed to accommodate any workout or exercise plan my trainers devise for me. 

The primary location at 37 Sam’s Point Road, on Lady’s Island, is equipped with weight training gear, cardio machines, and a sprawling turf for dynamic workouts, while the secondary location at 39 Sam’s Point Road, also on Lady’s Island, is geared towards fitness assessments and group training activities.   

So what’s makes Stay Strong my favorite fitness center in the Lowcountry?  

Beyond traditional fitness offerings, Sam and his trainers embrace a holistic approach to well-being – I can participate in infrared sauna sessions and collaborate with hormone specialists, chiropractors, and massage care experts to ensure that my fitness plan is as comprehensive as it is rewarding.
