After speaking with two members of the new ownership, I believe this club is set to become a premier destination for both locals and visitors. Owned and operated by Linx of Beaufort, LLC, the Club is a sanctuary offering limited memberships that promise access to a range of exclusive services and privileges.
Embracing the Outdoors
The first thing that struck me about Cat Island was its stunning natural landscape. The island is adorned with large live oaks draped in Spanish moss, palmetto trees, and marsh grass, painting a picturesque scene that’s hard to find elsewhere. Walking through the island and traveling by golf cart, I felt an immediate sense of peace and connection to nature, a feeling that the island seems to instill in every visitor.
During the tour, the Club Manager, Tim. After a few minutes describing to me what we were going to see on the tour, Tim left to get a nearby golf cart. We zipped around the island easily and spoke to several members. Each person was quite pleased, and seemed to me to be frankly having the time of their lives on the island.
For golf enthusiasts, the Cat Island Club is a dream come true. The club has a full service Pro shop with professional instruction.
The golf course, designed by the renowned George Cobb, is a masterpiece that challenges and delights in equal measure. Even though I’m not an avid golfer, I could appreciate the meticulous design and the beauty of the course. Hole #16, in particular, stood out with its tee box set in the marsh, offering deep water views that are simply breathtaking. As Tim, a golf pro himself explained to me, the course provides a range of risk/reward opportunities that seasoned golfers will find exhilarating.
Exceptional Amenities
The Club’s amenities extend beyond just golf. On the tour, Tim described how members have access to four pools near the Cabana Bar & Grill, offering a perfect spot to relax and unwind. The Springhouse practice range is ideal for honing your skills, whether you’re a seasoned golfer or just starting. For those who enjoy tennis, the Club offers two lighted hard surface tennis courts. Additional amenities I saw was a playground and picnic area as well as a fitness facility.

If you enjoy boating (like I do), having access to water is essential. When I told Tim, he took me to see the boat landing. It was outstanding with immediate access to deep water.

The community boasts access to several docks, including the one on Cotton Island, perfect for kayaking and crabbing, and the dock on de la Gaye, which offers stunning views of Battery Creek.
